Sudden removal from the field: it affects the person, the family, the community, the mission. It really affects all of us.
If possible, the person should be given some clear reasons as to why this happened, so they can make sense of it.
The severity of the crisis is not determined by the objective nature of the event itself, but by people's interpretation of the event.
The key dynamic to remember when assisting someone who has experienced sudden removal is the sense of loss.
The most critical task in helping someone who has been suddenly removed from the field is to listen to their pain, to hear their story. It's to be patient with their process, and to be there in such a way that you become Christ's person for their gradual steps toward restoration |
